Derek knows how to walk. That doesn't mean that he does it. He can stand up straight. He can walk with one of his hands being secured by either mine or Nancy's. Yesterday, Derek found a new piece of security to hold on to- a hockey stick. Is this a prophecy of some sort?
Excuse my voice of an excited Dad talking to his son on this video. It was very exciting. Derek has only ever taken steps from a couch to the table. It was more of a shimmy of two steps than walking. Enjoy the video.

DUDE,
It's awesome!!
he's so cute! How hilarious that his first steps were with and because of a hockey stick. How appropriate! :)
Aaaaw... little Sergio Adan is growing up, and Uncle Shark isn't around to see the boy raised properly.
Sigh...
He's a natural!
I'm glad to see you and your family are doing well.
(BTW, found your blog through Facebook.)
Awesome. Isn't he so much like his father?? :)
Too bad the mom wasn't there!
I'll be very disappointed if I catch him high-sticking the next time I'm in Orem.
Okay - let's just hope the Captain Crunch isn't a prophecy. My gosh, your father passed that passion along to you, didn't he?
How fabulous that you caught that on tape. It really was wonderful that he could keep his balance even with that kind of awkward weight in his hand.
I don't understand why young parents get excited about babies finally walking. It's the end of life as you have known it, Bryce. From here on out, everything is an emergency.
