chilled is best, especially when I want it to be

In my last post I already admitted to being an obsessive person. So I can continue with this entry.

I LOVE cold milk. It is my very favorite thing. I have milk with every meal, except for when I have root beer. Our poor lettuce in our fridge usually has ice crystals because I require the milk to be so cold. But there is something better than just plain old milk: Winder Dairy 1% cold milk. It is one of those things in life that you just can't let go of simply because if it's goodness. I recently realized that milk is white, meaning it's celestial, meaning it will be in heaven. Now I just have to work on getting there.

But anyway, there is another thing that is great chilled. And no, it's not my feet or my windshield or my tile floor. Double Stuf Oreos. I'm telling you, with my Winder Dairy cold milk and my new-found-chilled-chocolate-cookie, that is when we are truly talking about heaven. Too bad they are black.

But with something this good, I'm sure that Heavenly Father has already made an exception.

I'm an obsessive mother

So my mother-in-law and my three sisters will agree with this statement: the best place (in the ENTIRE world) to buy children's clothing is Gymboree. By far. Totally. No questions asked.

But perhaps you do have a question: why? And with that question, oh! there are so many reasons. First (and most importantly) they are unbelievably cute. Second, the quality is awesome (something every mother would agree to after scrubbing clothes for oh, twelve seconds). Third, they have awesome deals. You might think that Gymboree is expensive, but that is not the case. There are always sales and Gymbucks. Oh, Gymbucks. Let me explain further.

There is an earning period -- for a month or so -- where you can earn $25 of Gymbucks for every $50 you spend. The earning is endless. Then, during the redemption period -- for a week or so -- you get $25 off your purchase of $50 or more with however many Gymbucks you earned. Totally freakin' awesome.

Anyway, I love Gymboree. Derek's entire wardrobe is provided by them and I am quite the obsessive mother when it comes to his outfits. But the real reason I am explaining all of this to you is because of my current online order that I hope to receive. I have the UPS tracking number and it should be here tomorrow... but I'm worried about it because it's like 15 degrees outside.

I was driving yesterday in the Utah snowstorm with the heater blasting and my fingers about to fall off. I'd been in the car like 20 minutes and I was still near frost-bite. But then a UPS man pulled up next to me. WITH HIS DOOR OPEN. We were on University Parkway! Going like 40 MPH! Will someone please explain to me how (on earth!) I am going to get my child's next wardrobe pieces when the UPS man is going to start losing limbs? I worry about these people. The convenience of having the door open surely outweighs the consequences. That is a mystery to me.

I'm not honestly worried about my Gymboree clothes. But I am excited to try them on Derek.

Time for Answers

Nancy and I have been re-watching our favorite TV show, LOST. We are watching Season 3 again so that we can be ready for the premiere next week. So the word "answers" has been on my mind. Rather than lead you along in the depths of unanswered curiosities I decided today would be a great time to give back to my blog community by answering some of your questions from the comments section.

From "The name is appropriate. Is it not?"
-Brad M- No, I do not drink Red Bull. I would rather go with Mountain Dew code red and I don't even trust Mountain Dew since I last drank Mountain Mist in Michigan as a ninth grader.
-Ginna- I do believe that the office will come back someday. It's too great of a show to not ever come back. It will be interesting to see who comes back though. I haven't looked at this site in a while, but I used to go to http://www.officetally.com/the-office-season-4-spoilers.

From "My brother, the ewok"
- Ginna- Clay will be coming home this september. There is no pouch to Brazil anymore. Sad day, eh.
-Jello- Yes, you do need a vacation. Mom wants to have you guys down sometime. Mike Owen and his wife Claire would probably come too. We will have to see... Too bad not many live here anymore, at least I am meaning too bad Nate Robison doesn't.
-K- Yes, I do miss Clay dearly. Especially at family parties. I tend to write the material and Clay presents it. Apparently though, I should be on strike now.

"Taco Amigo"
-Ginna- Burgers has declined in taste. Sorry to tell ya that.

My brother, the Victim

Alas, here I am: blogging again. I couldn't resist the temptation to match Bryce's entry about his brother, Clay, on a mission. My brother Brady is also on a mission. He's been out 8.5 months! I really do miss him. It took me 8 months to cry about it, but now my feelings have truly been confessed.

Why is he a Victim, you ask? Well, for those Killers fans out there. I think more than anything else in the world, Brady misses listening to The Killers. (The Victims is the name of their fan club -- a tag that Brady wears proudly.) He has missed one album release, but it was just a B-sides and Rarities. Plus the album artwork was a little strange. But hey, we won't complain when good music is trapped inside the strangely-wrapped jewel case. He is wearing his Hot Fuss shirt in this picture. What a true fan (or something).

I need to mention that Brady is currently serving in the Taipei, Taiwan mission. He is working on his Mandarin, and his third companion, and hey, he's got a while left to go, but I think he is enjoying himself.

So, the story of this entry: Derek was sick last week and we had quite the middle of the night. Derek basically woke up at 1:00 AM and went back to sleep at 5:00 AM. Somehow 4 hours seems rather long at that hour. We contemplated calling our fathers or friend to help with a priesthood blessing, but decided that we could wait until the morning. All of these people would have willingly (or told us they were willing) come to help Derek, of course. But there wasn't really a person who fit the need more than my brother, who was routinely up at 3:00 AM for work. I'll admit, I've always missed him, but that was the first real time I felt a piece of me missing. But I'm glad he is out helping those crazy people in Taiwan while I am home installing bathroom faucets without his help.

(side note: I'v also put furniture together and moved heavy things. These are feats I had yet to conquer until Brady wasn't here and willing to help. I expect a round of applause, if you please.)

Best Burger in UT County

Now some of you read the title and go "Burgers Supreme." Well, that isn't what today's entry is about. Before reading one should know that I hold In n Out burger in highest regards. It is my favorite burger.

Burgers Supreme is no longer a favorite of mine. As of late, the burgers have been done too well, messy, the fries are overcooked, the time it takes to get a burger is a little longer than it has been in the past. I will eat there on occasion, but it isn't what it used to be.
Chadders had a lot of hype around it. It was the In N Out copy. I went to it. The fries taste just like In n out, but I don't really love the fries.
My uncle just suggested that Apollo is the answer or crown burger. No, it isn't that simple.

The best cheeseburger, in my opinion, is from Taco Amigo. They have great sauce, it's fast, but not too fast. They have wonderful fries and the fry sauce is great. We were ultimately introduced to Taco Amigo by Katie (Smith) Morgan. Katie worked at Taco Amigo in high school while I worked at Taco Bell. We got our food handler permits together. That was the extent of our relationship. Katie introduced me to the Taco Amigo burgers. Wow. The funny thing is we talked to Katie about our love of the "Amigo" at our high school reunion and her husband hates it. Whoa! I couldn't believe it.

Don't let the name fool you. It says Taco, but the burgers are great. I recommend the double cheeseburger meal (it's not on the menu, but ask for it) because the only bad part is that the meat is a little thing. So have a great time and let me know what you think.

My brother, the ewok

Well, Clay isn't really an ewok (or a jawa for that matter), but I thought it would call him that to show that he will always be my younger brother who could somehow never get past the fact that Star Wars isn't real. I guess it sounds like I am writing an obituary.

I truly miss Clay a lot. For those of you who don't know, he is in Curitiba Brazil on a mission for the LDS Church. He is about 500 miles from where I served in Rio de Janeiro. I have a hard time writing Clay consistently although I do write him an e-mail once a week. He is in Foz da Iguacu in Brazil. Look at how beautiful it is there.
You know what has been hard? Going back to my parents and having the gap of no Clay there. Maybe I just like the idea of Clay and once Clay gets home and decides to throw a temper tantrum at the San Diego Zoo because he can't have his iPod (that may have to be another entry), I will remember why in September of 06 I was excited for him to go.
Kidding, really. Clay wants me to go pick him up. I will probably do so and I need to research into prices soon because the sooner I book the flight to Brazil, the better.
Só vai...

Lilly the Blabber Mouth

So just as we thought Derek was being a jibber jabber, Lilly (our niece who does the map thing) started talking up a storm. She usually stops when we pull out the camera, but tonight she kept going. I had no idea she even knew all these words. There are three clips. Have fun. Comment, please.

bloggest

Well, as my (this is Nancy) first official post in the Randle Re-Runs gets underway, I would like to thank all in the blogging world who have inspired this: our bloggiest of blogs.

So, in my random thoughts that happen around 1:30 AM, I am especially thankful for all of the things available to me. For example: graham crackers, milk, the Internet, the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse soundtrack, and my hard-working husband. We've been up for a long time with Derek who got two immunizations at Papa Doctor's today (don't be alarmed, it's just the nickname for our actual pediatrician, who just so happens to be Derek's Great-Grandfather). That sort of thing always seems to ruin any type of schedule we pretend to have. So, the graham crackers, milk, and the Internet are a way for me to escape for half a minute. Derek is sleeping to the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse soundtrack -- a favorite present his dad gave him for Christmas -- and seems to be contently asleep. As for my hard-working husband, he is busy with so much work right now that he has vowed to stay up until he can no longer keep his eyes open. I'm working on being a supportive wife by writing a blog entry. Isn't our life so exciting that you want to continue reading about it?!

But, in truth, we are loving our lives -- especially the latest one -- and perhaps I should be grateful for my pillow.

Ducks Beat Maple Leafs

I just wanted to take a minute to write about the progress of the Anaheim Ducks. After winning the Stanley Cup last season, the pressure has been on and now we're hoping just to make it to the playoffs.
They got some good off season acquisitions in, Mathieu Schneider and Todd Bertuzzi. Some people have a big problem with Todd Bertuzzi, but as was the case with Chris Pronger. So I have learned to love anyone in a Ducks uniform. I do think that he is a bit overpaid for being a player who hs been prone to injury and doesn't provide as much scoring as Teemu Selanne did the past two seasons (he will never match Teemu, period).
I am very excited about the rumors circulating that Teemu Selanne is practicing and getting in shape while he ponders his return to the NHL. I can only think to compare his last performance to that of Randy Moss. He is that good. Patriots fans, can you imagine Moss coming off a great year like this one and then pondering retirement until week 10 of the next season? That's what is going on with the Ducks. We should hear in the next two weeks about his plans.
Tonight the Ducks put on a great show. I do not have NHL Center Ice (yet) so I cannot watch the games. I did listen to a good part of it online and I have this wonderful clip provided by anaheimducks.com. I am glad that the Ducks finally capitalized on the power play, something they were not doing well when Scott Niedermayer (last years captain, playoff mvp, and #1 defenseman) had not returned.
All in all, nice work tonight guys. It's good to see people like Weight, Bochenski, and Bertuzzi light the lamp. Go Ducks!

Thoughts on California Adventure

This was originally posted on DisneylandWaitTimes.com in October 2007. I started a hobby to do a site about the waiting times at Disneyland, but don't update it as much as I should.
With Disney’s announcement of the remodeling of California Adventure now official, I can safely say I think it is going to be a great thing for the resort. It sounds like it is going to be a bigger park. A bigger park means more space and that usually means people are more spread out.
I think that the rides sound great, the entry is especially wonderful. However, this doesn't mean I don’t like CA Adventure. I am a big fan of the park. I really like to go there, but I can see why too many people complain that it isn’t another Disneyland. The same magical feeling isn’t there -- but maybe that will just take time. It seems like a really large park park without a large amount of rides.

Still setting it up...

I am still trying to figure out the real purpose of this blog. I would like to tell stories about our family -- show off pictures, videos, and that sort of stuff. Then I will expose my, more often my will refer to Bryce specifically, opinions and ideas on films, hockey, current events (I will try to stay out of politics), and all the things that are happening in my interests.

This blog should be bookmarked by those who want to keep up in the world of my world. I have been recently referred to as a "Fan Boy". Has anyone else heard of it? A Fan Boy is one is into things like Star Wars, LOST, The Simpsons, and those sort of things. Am I a Fan Boy?

"So what exactly do you do all day?"

Yes, that's right. That is the question someone that attends my church (or for you LDS people, my Elder's Quorum President) asked me. This of course was not a rude thing to ask because most people think that my job at Disneyland got cancelled (showing that most people think that my internship was at the park in Anaheim and not at the studio in Burbank).

I explained that I work for about 8-10 different companies here in Utah, all somehow involved in the media/entertainment/production process. Just for clarification, here is what I have been involved with in the past year. Note: This isn't everything, but just a few things. You can always go to my IMDB profile and click on stuff when you are bored too.

Nancy and I decided to start a business in order to organize our finances and employing ourselves easier -- especially with taxes. She thought of the name Post Fifth Pictures. We do mostly Post Production, my first name is Quint which essentially means Fifth. Get how that works?

Here is a list of other things that people may know something about:
1) I am working basically full time for the next month or two for Kaleidoscope Pictures in Provo, Utah. I am mostly working on Franklin Covey videos, with a few other projects that pop up here and there.

2) Spring Communications. The guy that jumps the basketball hoop? The girl that pushes her niece out of the swing? The guy who tries to flirt too much in the library? Those Spring Communications (the AT&T retailer) commercials were edited by yours truly for Fifty Films up in SLC.

3) Truth about Tobacco. The client was the Utah Department of Health through Love Communications. This was also done at Fifty Films.

4) Singles 2nd Ward. I was the first assistant editor and did all the titles. Basically what that means is I sat down with the director and made a few tweaks, I prepped the film for the editor(s), got the film off to sound & music, and did a few visual effects. And by the way, I think the film is good and I recommend it to anyone who liked the first one.

5) Mormon Myths. I am also cutting a documentary about myths that move around in the LDS faith (like about famous mormons and lots of other quirky things). It is a fun piece to work on.

6) I just started doing the duplication services that my Dad did before. So I do that for DrumsonDemand.com and whatever companies ask for it.

7) I basically run Hockeyplayer.com. I don't show it off because I am not a web person, but the content is great. I would obviously love to have it be a lot better, so I am looking to get someone web competent in the next few months to make it snazzier.

So that isn't everything, but is that good enough to let you know that I am okay?
From Bryce (this time)

Derek's First Christmas

Derek had his first Christmas. That was pretty exciting. He had a fun time. We really think that he understood what was going on. (By the way, Derek's new hobby is to close my laptop while I am typing on it.) We had our own Christmas morning on Christmas Eve. It was nice to have a real morning to enjoy all the presents. Know what I mean?

On actual Christmas morning we got up early and went to my parents (The Randles) and then after 2 hours of opening presents, we hit the Knights house. A lot of you know about our niece, Lilly, and her talent to find countries on the world map. So I got her, as a joke, a shirt with an upside down map on it so that she could have a mobile map. I posted a video to YouTube. Here is an embedded version of her opening the present.

So we had a good time. I got to talk to Clay and Nancy got to talk to her brother Brady. So that was also exciting.

The name is appropriate. Is it not?

The title of our blog refers to a few different things.

1) How sad we are that there are no new episodes of The Office due to the WGA strike. I support the writers, but I am just bummed that I will never see if Oscar ever breaks up with Gill.

2) Re-telling stories that happen is pretty much a re-run.

3) A re-run is related to what we do. I guess...
